Creating a Vignette with a Storyline

A translation tool I use from time to time is a worksheet I created called “The Style Mashup.” In it, I take you through the process of describing some of your favorite things and thinking about how you’d represent those in terms of color, pattern, materials, etc.

The purpose of the tool is to help you define your style in a way that’s completely opposite of putting yourself into a singular style category (such as “farmhouse,” “boho,” “hollywood glam,” etc).

Here’s a link to the Style Mashup worksheet if you’d like to get a better understanding of what I’m referencing the videos that follow.

But even if you don’t read or fill out the worksheet, you’ll learn how to create a vignette with a very strong storyline.

Step 1: Gather your materials

Step 2: Choose & arrange your anchor pieces

Step 4: Playing with objects

Step 4: Pulling it together

Step 5: The final layers
