KEY TAKEAWAYS

Have you ever felt an overwhelming urge to change everything in your home all at once? I caution against it. Slow Style is all about savoring each decision, and thoughtfully curating a space that reflects who you are.

Connecting Your Vision to Design Choices

Today's focus is on adding new elements to your home to fulfill the vision you've established. Imagine connecting how you want to feel in your space to specific design decisions. Sounds fulfilling, right? That's what I'll guide you through—making informed, heartfelt choices.

Initially, with step one, we search our souls and distill the room experiences we desire. It's essential to have open conversations with loved ones using the space, understanding what works and what doesn't. If you haven't grabbed the free guide yet, it will walk you through this process. The link is in the episode's description.

In step two, we dive into experimenting with existing elements. Learning to play with what you have paves the way to a more conscious purchase of new items. And now, onto step three: executing.

Bringing Your Vision to Life

This step is where imagination meets action. Maybe it's selecting a bold paint color, securing an investment piece, or acquiring a beloved piece of art. Step three is about layering elements that shape your vision into reality. Crucially, it's about stamping your signature style—a unique blend that no one else can replicate.

When infusing your space with your passions, personality, and values, the goal is that anyone visiting will say, "Wow, this is so you." As these elements come together, keep adding photos and inspirations to your mood board—a visual echo of your envisioned room.

Thoughtful Shopping: Mind Over Impulse

Executing your vision doesn't mean rushing out to buy everything in one day. I offer some self-check questions if you’re prone to impulsive shopping. Picture tomorrow—will you regret not buying that item? If it’s a thrift store treasure—ask if it fills a practical or visionary role.

A thought-provoking question from a casual conversation: if this item were covered in vomit, would you wash it off to save it? Strange, but it genuinely highlights how much you value an item.

Slow decorating also teaches restraint—questions of value, alignment with personal and worldly considerations, and understanding of the desired room's mood guide your purchases. How does each piece complement the grand vision of the room?

Echoing Your Passions and Memories

Decor should reflect personal stories and passions. Perhaps it's recreating a family heirloom's spotlight through collected pieces, or presenting a vivid passion like vintage tennis rackets or a beloved music band's poster. These curated elements all add depth.

In sum, step three—execute—is your conscious journey of layering choices with intention. We're constructing that beautiful vision of a home with patience and elegance unique to your preferences and lifestyle.

For those feeling daunted, sometimes a helping hand is welcome. Hence, why I offer one-on-one coaching. Discover more at slowstylehome.com, where you can also explore the deeper intricacies of this framework tailored uniquely to you.

Enjoy living within the vision you've delicately crafted.
